Thanks for this report. Any follow-up yet after seam-sealing the tent and using it again in the rain? Thinking of getting one, but won’t do it if seam sealing didn’t work for you.

I think people misinterpret the 4-season idea. These tents are part of the Summit series if I ‘m not mistaken, that means they are meant to withstand heavy winds and are great in snowy mountain conditions. They are not meant to withstand heavy rain … You are better off then with a 3-season tent.

We just got this tent and used it in Olympic National Park rainforest for the weekend backpacking. The tent leaked horribly all over, but especially puddled near the foot-end of the tent. It was advertised as a four season tent, but it turns out they didn’t consider rain. It got all of our stuff soaked on the inside which made our load even heavier to carry out. We were trying to figure out how we must’ve set it up wrong or maybe it was missing a piece, but we set it up correctly. Thank you for this video, it’s hard to find many reviews about this issue online. Personally we will be exchanging the tent at REI since it’s vital to have a waterproof tent in the PNW. I can’t imagine that sealing the seams would help much since the material itself is thin and soaks easily. We were getting dripped on from over head during the middle of the night.
