After using the old surge for a good 5 years it was time for an upgrade. Just got the surge 2.0. only things I dislike compared to the old one is that the laptop pocket isn’t raised like the old model and that the organisation pocket is alot smaller than the old one. One thing I do like is that the bottom cussion on the back is now changed to be the same material as the rest of the cussions. The old one used to get warm very quickly and I always got sweat stains on my lower back because of it. I also like the materials they used on the new one better. It feels alot stronger

Hey George. Hello from the UK..just subscribed. Great review and because of your review I jught thinst purchased the Surge. I like the organiser section and the main compartment is great fogr a DSLR and one or two lenses. Seems a tough bag . Hope I made the right choice. Cheers

New Sub, great videos. After looking at the Osprey Nebula review and a lot of your other videos I landed here. I’m leaning more to the Nebula, for the cleaner look and Lifetime warranty. How do you like this Surge compared to the 2019 Nebula?

Great Review!! You really help out with showing the features of the backpacks better than what is shown on the website.
I’m torn between the new Surge vs The Router. I feel like the Router is great for travel, especially when you have to carry a set of shoes and clothes, but it seems a little big for EDC. I want a pack mostly for EDC, but spaciously enough for occasional travel. Do you think the Surge is too small or the new Router is too big? Just wanted your opinion before I make my purchase. Thanks.

Thank you for such a thorough review. I have an older Surge which I love and will give it to my son for middle school. He had an Under Armour last year and it already has a tear at the bottom seam. The UA did not have much organizational pockets which my very unorganized son needs. I was able to get a new Surge through Ebags with a coupon and with Ebates it was such a great price. I know this will last me for years and it’s worth it to pay more for The North Face quality. I use this as my work bag and it holds so much and is comfortable on my back.

Would you say the 2017 recon or the surge is a better backpack for college? My campus is huge so i skateboard around meaning bulkiness matters. I cant tell if there is really a noticable difference between the two. Thanks for the videos man! They have been very helpful
