Great find, lady! I love the Bernardo coats! I bought one used off poshmark to wear while travelling to South Korea last winter; the straps made my inter-airport commutes much more comfortable. I am not a small person (5 ft 10 in), and I was able to be fitted without tight arms or a too-short length. I found some 1 inch nylon straps and also grosgrain ribbon to sew into some other coats I use for travel. I can see some elastic could possibly work, too. Imagine your child’s coat having these sewn in – I’m surprised that it’s not used more in outerwear!

You can make your own using 3 buttons and button elastic! Place one button at the top center, near the tag. The other two then placed where the back of your hips touch the inside of your coat. Plus! Removable! Cost : ~$3

I have that jacket as well. I have a medium. But a large right now would be better if wearing multiple thick layers. 5’3”
Bigger chested. Bigger arms. On the wrong side of 150lbs right now
