“Would you take if it was free?” Is simply getting them to agree that the price they’re asking for it just isn’t it worth it in your eyes which seems to naturally lead to an unproductive “make me an offer” conversation.
It’s a great question to gauge whether someone has ANY interest at all, but it’s certainly not going to compel someone to want to pay full price.
