The magazine name being called “wave” makes sense because “laine” also means “wave” in Estonian, a sibling language of Finish. It probably sounds similar too.
I love your self drafts! The minute I saw the cream cardigan on your insta I knew I wanted to make something similar. Will be patiently waiting for the pattern! Also, I am so excited for your mittens tutorial, I hope it contains the Latvian braids you do since it looks so good with all the mittens you’ve done. You’ve inspired me to try more self drafted knits, and also to pick up knitting socks and mittens. I’ve been too afraid of the small needles and the thin yarn, but have so many patterns saved on Ravelry that it is about time I start ahahah
the moomin scarf looks adorable! i used a chart from mintu vikbergs book to make a moomin vest and its so lovley. moomins are so fun to knit due to their roundness and translating that into colorwork 🙂 love the collar on the cardigan, its adorable!
I understand your misgivings about the OG tutorial video, but I think you yourself recognise it still holds a lot of value for a lot of people. I did my first knit with and thanks to your tutorial. It kicked off a low-key obsessions with knitting and I honestly don´t know what I used to do with my time before knitting 😀
So yes, please, don´t take them down, because I am sure I am not the only person jump starting this life-long hobby with your patterns and videos.
Nice to see you Florence. I would like to knit that collared cardigan once you’ve perfected the pattern. I love the collar.
You impress me!
I loved your tutorials. I knit my first cardigan with your video. Turned out great and even knit a second one. Thank you!
I just wanted to say that you are the reason I started knitting garments. My first sweater was your step by step sweater and my first cardigan was your step-by-step cardigan. You are so appreciated!
I systematically make a 3st icord with drops safran to hold my raglan sweaters necklines. First I mesure the neckline , then I make the icord and stop when it reaches the neckline length, when the icord is stretched. I then sew it on the sweater. It works very well.
21:55 “I’ve never seen a video of someone doing double knitting with the two colors like that…” I’ve done it, so it is possible. It was a two-stranded double-knitted pattern called the Trotting Horse Cowl. I will say that it is (counterintuitively) far more mind bending to do two-color double knitting with one stand of yarn in each hand than it is to do it with the yarn all in your left hand. I very quickly switched to using a ring with a chunky stone on the forefinger of my left hand to separate the two yarns, and that was smooth as could be. I was very surprised that it was SO different, as I knit stranded colorwork the same way you do (one color in each hand), so I assumed that would be my preference when it came to double knitting as well, but nope! Just wanted to share my experience, both as a reassurance that it can be done, and as a nudge to not rule out holding both strands in the same hand, because I found it was far simpler that way.
