Saw a lady recently wearing a very similar denim jacket to that one around minute 13 with the lovely sleeves, although hers was with a more regular collar. It was gorgeous actually

I love 1980s patterns, thanks for hilighting them! The envelope illustrations are often off putting which makes the line drawings so important

You found some great patterns and inspirations. How do you define the difference between a coat and a jacket? I always think a jacket is from mid thigh and shorter, either lined or unlined. For me, a coat is longer than mid thigh and always lined. I really have no idea, just my thoughts. I learned how to make bound buttonholes way back in high school sewing class. I want to make a fall jacket with bound buttonholes but will definitely practice first.

I love that Vogue Givenchy one. The riding coat-inspired ones don’t appeal as much., they give me Lady Di vibes! I have been making a few jackets lately. I made the Pattern Emporium Smitten jacket in green linen and then made the Fibre Mood Madou which was fun to make with all the topstitching but the instructions were very poor. I am just finishing up another Smitten jacket in a very pale denim. It is such a pleasure to sew, all the pieces fit together perfectly and the instructions are second to none.
