Love the In the Folds Jacket – another great update
Another fantastic review video! I love the Itch to Stitch Delaware jacket for the same reasons— a bit of waist definition helps when the jacket is hip length or so. Earlier this week I saw Melania Trump wearing a very similar jacket, possibly in suede on her visit to Windsor Castle —and it was stunning! Perhaps you saw it? Also, there is a YouTube video of a couture jacket that is phenomenal. I will share it if I can find it again. So inspiring. Perhaps it will help you stay the course on your Chanel jacket project! You present so many interesting ideas and project. Love the breadth of your coverage of fashion and sewing! Stay well. You’ve got a lot going on this week! ❤❤❤ Suzanne
Love the video. I love a good jacket of any type. I’ve made 2 of the Simplicity S9239, one of the shorter version out of linen, and a second out of a heavy cotton plaid in the longer version that was more of a “shacket” look I have the Den jacket, just haven’t gotten to it yet.
Great video, thanks. Just about to embark on the Merchant and Mills Paynter jacket! It’s my slow sew for the autumn! X
Mimi featured a pattern on her channel recently that fits into your Utility Jacket category (great topic, by the way). It’s M8561. I plan to make it in denim and, thanks to you, perhaps use corduroy for the collar, based on some of the designs you shared. We’ll see how it looks. Because denim is so expensive now, I plan to make a toile first, before going full bore into the denim. Thanks for your great ideas in this video. Your channel is terrific! When time permits, I enjoy watching repeat episodes. 🙂
Nice jackets, they look so different made up in a diverse selection of fabrics from really chic and smart to workwear. I am in the midst of making a boxy jacket, dropped shoulders, pocket flap welt pockets, making in a fabric left over from interior designer days, used for a back of large chair. had two panels left, so cutting out was tricky but will send a pic of make so far, its quite interesting. The pattern was from Sister Mag – the 40-8 Hemp jacket. I have also made V8930 in a nice heavy boiled wool in a nice plum colour and put bright magenta suede edge on the pockets. I love it, wool is such a dream to work with. Bravo Rachel, with the Chanel jacket, I too have been researching the couture method and want to make. I have a nice tweed that high wool mix, I love the linton ones but they dont have much wool in them, hoping they may release some higher content wool tweeds now the weather is cooler. I have an old vogue pattern by Claire Schaefer V8804 and its made with all the couture techniques. Eva I also have the Vogue 7975, which style did you make? ineresting you didnt find it too difficult, nice to know,….. Oh and I have just purchased the PHen shirt by Pattern Fantastique has anyone made this,? bought some Paul Smith deadstock shirting for sherwoods in a magenta stripe, only £8.99 per m. very pleased. Happy Sewing ladies
Hi Rachel–I enjoy your videos so much! I don’t know if this is appropriate, but could you take a designer–Armani for instance or Alexander McQueen, Celine (anyone really) and pick patterns that give that look.? Thanks for considering this.
Excellent inspiration photos! I’ve been eying numerous of the patterns you featured- the styling and fabrication ideas you showed will make actually choosing easier and more fun!
Thankyou for your review … I’ve made the puff and pencil top stitch vest with box sleeves (3 times ) and it is such a great pattern , a lovely sew and easy wear . I’ve got it on my list to make as a quilted jacket but now I’m thinking a ‘Barbour style ‘ one would also be great . I’ve got the ilford jacket toiled but not got the sizing sorted yet .
