You must be tiny because these jackets run small on most people… also you should have known what the uses for that are before pasting 200 and finally, this Hackett is pretty warm if it’s not really windy I would recommend eating more to add some buddy insulation you might have this problem with most jackets.. congrats on finishing your trail tho!

Tested the thermoball in two Japan winters (2017 and 2018) throughout central Honshu where temps range from 0C to 6C. My assessment: It’s OK over proper layering, however, it’s not totally windproof. You’d need a shell if cold wind is present. Having said that, I think that’s what the jacket is meant to be: breathable. And for me, since I tend to overheat, the thermoball worked very well when undergoing moderate to heavy aerobic activity. Overall warmth will not match a down jacket, that’s for sure, but it has its good points especially when it comes to breathability. It does prevent overheating, something which I am prone to experience with a down jacket. Will it work for everyone? There’s no absolute answer to that. One should know his own individual tolerance level and type of activity. Would love to get a later model where there’s an internal chest pocket, something which my version does not have, and something which, I feel, is a necessity. Overall, I’d still give it a thumbs up, and would recommend it to those who want a stand-alone travel jacket that’s light, packable, and warm. It’s a winner for moderately cold weather, and where one needs to keep moving. When temps go below freezing, it will do well as a midlayer over a shell.
