I was sceptical at first, but this changed my mind (I especially liked #4). So here’s a question: since the chore coat is a nice alternative to (e.g.) a navy blazer, what about some situations — say, sitting down to dinner on date night — where you’d naturally leave a blazer on indoors, but it feels more appropriate to remove the chore coat? Leaving a chore coat on in that situation would feel like eating dinner without taking off your overcoat. But taking it off would leave me eating dinner in a bare dress shirt (which is, after all, underwear 🙂 ) Interested to hear your thoughts … or is this just a weird edge case where you have to bite the bullet and stick to the navy blazer? Either way, great video, and I’m now a convert, and looking to add one to my wardrobe!

Looking like a plumber or a shoemaker, is that fashionable in your opinion? My choice is car coat. Elegance, simplicity, comfort and no associations with a 19th century worker. In my case, it is a matte coffee jacket made of California leather. I think the same style but made of moleskin or gabardine will look no worse.

One if the few times I’m not feeling it. Especially, or maybe because, in this navy blue I get Janitor at school vibes. I’m aware that this might be just a me thing, but that’s a big reason I’ll never get one. My alternative to a sports coat is still my field jacked, if I feel the need to wear something else as an outer layer.
